Brief summary
The article highlights one of the topical problems of clinical toxicology - poisoning by drugs mainly acting on the cardiovascular system. Knowledge and understanding of pathogenetic processes allows the doctor to make a timely diagnosis and start etiopathogenetic therapy. Analytical toxicological analysis, consideration of the mechanism of toxic action, features of diagnosis and intensive care of 70 patients hospitalized with poisoning by drugs acting on the cardiovascular system in the center of acute poisoning SBU «St. Petersburg I.I. Dzhanelidze Research Institute of Emergency Medicine» in 2023. Patients presented complaints of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, increased sweating. Cardiovascular system disorders were manifested by palpitations, rhythm and conduction disorders according to electrocardiographic study. Probe gastric lavage followed by activated charcoal administration at a dose of 1 g/kg was used to remove the non-absorbed toxicant. Complex treatment at the hospital stage included specific therapy (5% solution of sodium dimercaptopropanesulfonate, sodium citrate and atropine), therapy of rhythm disturbances in the form of sinus node arrest (substitution transesophageal electrocardiostimulation), ventricular tachyarrhythmias (lidocaine injection), and defibrillation in case of ventricular fibrillation.
