A total of 42 newborn children and 42 women which admission to maternity hospital during rubella's morbidity improvement in Siberia region were performed clinical, immunologic and molecular-biologic investigations. Altogether 37 children had congenital malformations. Rubella virus was determined in 20.0% mothers by RT-PCR method. The 21.6% newborn children had a RT-PCR positive result too. There were 4 IgM-rubella positive and 9 low avidity IgG-rubella positive women. Thus, our findings revealed initial, prodromal and subclinical studies of rubella infection in mothers. The part of observable congenital malformations will be closely related with congenital rubella syndrome.
