Brief summary
Gastric cancer is a third cause of cancer related death worldwide. It often diagnosed with a peritoneal carcinomatosis as the only metastatic site in advanced disease. Patients with carcinomatosis have extremely low survival. Systemic chemotherapy shows low efficacy.
Intraperitoneal chemotherapy seems to be promising in treatment of peritoneal diseases. More clinical trials of regionary methods are ongoing in the treatment of gastric cancer peritoneal carcinomatosis. The most common regionary treatment is HIPEC and PIPAC - a novel intraperitoneal chemotherapy method. However, the indications for various intraperitoneal chemotherapy methods are still unclear in gastric cancer, and its effectiveness require further study.
