Preclinical screening of atherosclerosis in young age

Brief summary

Objective: to develop an algorithm for the early detection of atherosclerotic changes for example carotid arteries in the category of young men. Material and methods: at Department of Hospital Therapy Military Medical Academy was examined of 437 men. After an evaluation of intima-media complex thickness of the carotid arteries patients have been divided into 2 groups: 1st - 62 men with signs of initial atherosclerosis; 2nd - 375 men without changes of the vascular wall. All of the examined patients have been evaluated lipid, carbohydrate metabolism and functional indicators of liver. Results: The patients with initial atherosclerosis has identified a number of characteristics: high frequency of cardiovascular risk factors (arterial hypertension, abdominal obesity, physical inactivity), dyslipidemia and dysglycemia, as well as fatty liver. As result of the study have been proposed a mathematical prediction model of atherosclerosis from young men (age, the presence of violations of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, and level of alanin aminotransferase) and survey scheme for men over 35 years for early detection of signs of atherosclerosis. Conclusion: debut of atherosclerosis in young age is associated with the combined influence of cardiovascular disease, fatty liver and metabolic disorders, which are implemented through the mechanisms of endothelial dysfunction and insulinoresistance.
