Comparative analysis of changes in cholinergic regulation under conditions of single and multiple exhausting physical exercise

Brief summary

Using experiments in rats the effect of different regimens of forced swimming with a load of 5% of body weight on the parameters of the enzyme-substrate-receptor interaction in the cholinergic system was investigated. Two-fold swimming of rats to exhaustion was shown to reduce activity of acetylcholinesterase in brain and cerebellum, and of butyrylсholinesterase in blood plasma, and also to increase the onset time of arecholinic tremor and nicotinic seizures, as well as the period of state normalization after the pharmacological probing (with arecholine and nicotine), compared to intact animals and to the group of single swimming. Electroneuromyograhpy has revealed that the two-fold physical exercise decreased an amplitude of the M-response and increased its duration, as well as the area under the curve compared to model of a single exhausting load and intact animals.
